Too Far Away . . .
This is one of my favorite songs. Probably because if it never ministers to anyone else, it has ministered to me.
In the early 1990's, as I was driving to work (yes, I'm inspired a lot in the car - check out "Look Past the Pain" and "Dark Side of the Moon"), I was feeling very overwhelmed. It felt as though God had deserted me. I felt lost and alone. Where was my comforter? Often as I drive I'll pray, so on that morning, I cried out to the Lord, "Where are you, Lord?" That's when the words of "Too Far Away" started pouring out.
God reminded me that He promised to never leave me nor forsake me. He reminded me that He promised to send a comforter in the form of the Holy Spirit. My problem was that I was so busy doing so many "good" things, I had walked away from Him!
Busy-ness still tends to get the best of me from time to time, but this song reminds me that when I feel lost and confused, I need to get back into the Word, get on my knees and worship the Lord.
