She Had No Lamb . . .

On the "music" page, I said that the album "climaxes in a celebration of Christ's sacrificial gift to us."  This song is that climax.  It's become one of my favorites and is requested by many who know my music.  Enjoy its story . . .

Each year as I read the story of Jesus in Luke, I read about Mary bringing the burnt offering for her purification to the temple when Jesus was 40 days old. If you look in Leviticus 12, you'll see why she came that day. Obviously, Mary and Joseph followed the Law.

Several years ago, I began to see the irony of Mary's situation. An irony that even she and Joseph did not comprehend. You see, a lamb was actually required for the purification offering, but in cases where someone was too poor, they were allowed to bring two pigeons or doves. (Yep, that's in Leviticus 12).  So, Mary and Joseph brought their pigeons.  The irony is that right there all of the time, Mary had in her arms the final sacrifice. The only lamb that would ever need to be sacrificed ever again was with her.

That lamb cleansed Mary and made her worthy to stand before God, the Father. It's that same lamb, Jesus Christ, Mary's Son, that makes me clean and worthy to stand before God, my Father! And the blood of that same lamb has been offered for you to cleanse you and allow you to appear white as snow before the throne on the day of judgement. He is your lamb!

He is my lamb, He's what the law requires.
God has made a way for me. Jesus paid my price.
He is my lamb. He makes me pure and white.
He gave all He had for me, the ultimate sacrifice!
