Things I See . . .
The title cut of the album and one of the single releases.
This cut can be heard on the internet on WRKP-FM "The Celebration Station" (Moundsville, WV -96.5) on WCVZ-FM (92.7 & 94.5, Zanesville, OH & 107.9, Williamstown, WV) and on an occasional Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. on WNPQ-FM (Canton, OH - 95.9). In addition, it's been played on secular stations in Ireland during a pre-recorded Christian music show produced by Studio 18 Ireland.
If you've visited here before, you know that this song was written long before the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on our country. Regardless of its when it was written, its words ring true at this time as much as at any other.
"Things I See" was written in September of 1996 . . . even before Columbine and so many of the other school shootings.
In late August of 1996, two young gentlemen that I knew lost their lives suddenly and tragically. One was supposed to be married just 2 days after an automobile accident claimed his life. Instead of performing the ceremony, we visited the family at the funeral home.
The other, whose name appears on the dedication page of the album, was a young man who had been brought up in the ways of Christ. A beautiful young man whose family we had come to love.
I received the calls about their deaths within hours of each other and wondered, "Why?" It just didn't seem fair. In the aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, my heart is once again crying, "Why?" It is only by leaning on Jesus Christ I can make it through these and other times when life is "unfair."
I pray that this song will bring ministry and comfort to many during the next days and months as our nation faces this, its greatest trial.
"There are Things I See that make me wonder why, Lord, why? There are Things I See that make me want to cry. There are Things I See that make me lean on you more and more. Lord, I need your strength to face these Things I See."
